Gaston County, NC, Firefighter Hit by Car at Incident Scene

New Hope firefighters were standing by with a tree blocking the road when a car struck them.

A New Hope firefighter hit by a car while standing near a tree that was blocking the road.

A car drove under the tree and struck the firefighter and a fire engine, WSOC reported.

The injured firefighter and two people in the car were taken to CaroMont Regional Medical Center.

The firefighter was treated and released Thursday. There was no word on the civilians.

The engine will be out of service until repairs can be made.
